Food safety, climate resilience, and peacebuilding

“The initiative will demonstrate how food safety,” writes Humphrey Kirnya, the new Liaison for the Nsooba City of Peace program, “climate resilience, and peacebuilding can work together to create a lasting culture of harmony — fulfilling the vision of an International City of Peace in Uganda.” Nsooba is an urban community in Kampala, characterized by rapid population growth and the Nsooba wetland catchment. “The community faces environmental challenges, including pollution and flooding due to encroachment on wetland, which serves as a natural filter for waste water and flood control this affects peace in the community and the country at large.” Only those in the community can solve community problems. When are we going to realize that help is one thing, to dictate is not helpful. Peacemakers, trust “in situ” leaders!
